Design Classic: Josef Frank Wallpaper & Textiles

Wallpapers and textiles designed by Josef Frank have long been classics in the world of decor. They add a lovely mix of bold color, rustic imagery and a masterful use of overall pattern and scale to a room. We put together a grouping of some favorites from the over 200 he produced - they typify "Swedish Modernism" to us.

If this hasn't been enough wonderful eye candy for a Friday, more info on and photos of Frank's designs can be found at Architonic.

I don't like them. Too busy for my taste.

I am madly in love with Josef Frank but would not be able to live with him.

Or you could just go on Svenskt Tenn's websajt.

Frank was Austrian and an emigre to Sweden, yet epitomized the late 30s, 40's Swedish Modern (along with the designer Prince, Sigvard).

I love bright colors and crazy patterns--the less traditional the better! But these... I would be visiting the post above about how to remove old wallpaper.

Those patterns are bright and colourful and would make a nice piece of art for your wall, but as a wallpaper! it's just way too much.

Too much! There's a difference between bold and cheerful and LSD-inspired cornea-burning. This wallpaper could only work in small doses.

Love it! Especially the second from the left on the top row.

I've seen it used many times in Living Etc., and it doesn't seem to be too much

Maybe not on a wall, but I LOVE these patterns! I have a similar pattern on my bed linen.
