Roundup: Best Soap Dishes

3-16-09soapdish.jpg

Soap dishes may seem like small details that can be overlooked, but they're actually very personal parts of a home. Whether it's a simple porcelain dish or a sleek lacquer model, the soap dish is something you use every day. We repurposed this small Brooklyn Tray from Fishs Eddy as our soap dish, and we love it. It's cute, does its job, and cleans up easily. Click below for our list of the best soap dishes from AT and around the web...

Soy sauce and pickle dishes from your local Japanese hardware store make great soapdishes - and they're often available for less than $5 each.

"Why not just get a soap dispenser?"

Because I can't put the fancy soaps I get from the hotels and ships where I vacation in a soap dispenser...

bepsf, are you one of those people whose bathrooms are full of hotel soaps and shampoo bottles?

imho - i think soap dishes should have slats for the soap to rest on and the liquid can drain off, that way the it's not sitting in it's own liquid and getting gooey.

I'm using a variation of beepsf's soy sauce dish. It's a similar size but used for grating daikon root for sushi. It has little ceramic pyramids on the bottom of the dish that grip the slippery bar of soap and keeps it from sitting in a pool of water.

Mine is a fugu, or blowfish. 99 cents.
