Roundup: Vintage Clocks

Nothing makes a graphic statement on the wall like a big, black and white clock. We especially love the look of the old Seth Thomas clocks from the 60s and 70s, with their stripped-down, functional aesthetic. I'm pretty sure clock #1 has been in every classroom in every school that I have ever stepped foot in.

Nice collection of clocks. It's funny to look at places like Target and see the design inspiration from the vintage collections.

I just purchased a clock very similar to #1 from a salvage store in Baltimore and am currently trying to convert it to run on a battery instead of being hardwired. Any hints on how to do this would be great.

I've got an IBM factory clock, but it runs on 24V DC (as it was synched to the factory machines). I haven't got around to finding a transformer & doing the wiring to plug it into an outlet. Suppose I could hook it up to a coupla 12V car batterys...

Cheap cluttered thrift shops are always such a great place to go to find odd clocks.
