Vintage Vignettes at Home
House Tour Roundup

While it's wonderful to see the wide shots showing off how our House Tour recipients use their space, our personal favorite photos from the tour slideshows are the vignettes. The close up images of objects and artwork that people put together for purely aesthetic pleasure are always compelling to us. Quite a few of our tours...

...feature vintage items and artwork in these vignette photos - here are a few of our favorites:

1. Lamp, ashtray and painting in Jeff & Jennifer Isbell's 1970 Half-Circle Home .

2. Knitting statue, ginger jar lamps, daisy storage box and more at Harmony & Vance's Newlywed Nest .

3. Ship models, desk lamp and pottery at Steve's Uptown Contemporary .

4. Ad signage, paintins, bowl and calendar in Melissa & Henry's Small Live/Work Home.

5. Pottery and glassware in a vintage china cabinet atEmily & Jacob's Poetically Photographed Home.

I love these vignettes! They are so inspiring to get me to move all of my bit and pieces around!

Those are my lamps. No, really. I bought them (apparently from Harmony and Vance) on etsy just as they are in the photo, one with lampshade hardware, one without. They now both have shades and live on top of our armoire. Its nice to see where they came from (and weird that I randomly spotted them in this post). Thanks, Harmony and Vance!

I am so excited -- I just purchased one of those ginger jar lamps in the picture at Goodwill not more than a month ago! Can't wait to start on a vintage vignette in my home.

Am I the only one who hates vignettes? Is it because mine never come out well? What is the secret to staging a good-looking vignette? Are there rules to the game? Help!

thepeoplescortney, you are not the only vignette-challenged person out there. I shy away from buying some of the things I admire because I know that I will never be able to put that together in a nice neat vignette (that and I have a slight fear of knick knacks that stems from childhood).
