Ever since we saw the striped IKEA rug in Anna's Old-and-New Newburgh Victorian on AT:NY, we've been thinking about where to put one in our own home. We love Anna's multicolored Unni rug, but we're also into some of the newer colorful stripes in purples, blues, and oranges...

wow, AT chicago and i are completely on the same wavelength. i just bought a few ikea striped rugs for the staging of my house to sell - so that i can move to chicago. yay!

I have and love the unni rug. I almost want to stock up on them just in case ikea stops making them.

I have the yellow and white stripe it never worked for me. I use it as a picnic grass cover now.

Love the Strib rug, but I have a doormat just like it (from Target). I'm worried the narrow multicolor stripe look is becoming too popular for it's own good (a birthday gift I received earlier this year came in a bag decorated with the same motif).
These may end up looking terribly dated really quickly, like those Chairman Mao leather-collared beige men's coats from Banana Republic a few years back. Suddenly everybody was wearing one, and just as suddenly everybody was sick of them.

Striped area rugs make a nice and clean statement. They go well on areas where they go against a straight edge like a table or chest. The perpendicular lines look nicer then.
