I got tickets to attend the (now-defunct) Canadian version of the show. It was a blast! There's a lot of waiting around involved, but everyone is friendly and you get to see some weird and wonderful objects.

I attended in Salt Lake City a few years ago. BIG FAT WASTE OF TIME. Makes for good TV, but is really a nightmare in terms of organization.

1. The set is deliberately unorganized and crowded to make for a more dramatic setting. The booths are arranged in a big circle. Imagine two lines from each booth, and each line extends toward the middle of the circle. When the lines are too long, they extend across the circle and criss cross each other all over the set.

2. The "experts" are in fact not experts. They're just dealers who pay to get the exposure appraising everyone's junk. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/roadshow/appraisers/index.html Moreover, you do not get a written appraisal. You just get an opinion.

If you think you've got a great hidden asset and want to know the value, call a local appraiser and talk to them.

kimg924 - the truth behind the TV glaze! So good to know (watching it would probably never be the same again, and that's fine with me - I need less reasons to watch this crap)!
