Ikea Offer: Buy a Sofa and Get a Second Cover Free

ektorp090508.jpgWe've always liked the idea of switching out fabrics with the seasons. What a nice way to give your home a lift, simply by lighting or warming up the textile colors and changing the textures and weights of the materials in your rooms. A current offer (through September 21st) at IKEA makes it possible to change up the look of your new sofa (or loveseat, chair or chaise) dramatically to an all white look at no additional charge. Jump below for details:

Now, at Ikea, buy an Ektorp sofa, loveseat or chair and get a second cover in white for free.
Available through 9/21, at local stores only, while supplies last. More info can be found here.

This is an excellent seating option. I bought Pottery Barn's "Basic" sofa (which looks just like this one) in 1997, and three sets of slipcovers. I change the slipcovers with the seasons. They are all washable, which takes all day, but that's ok. I wouldn't change a thing except to buy one more set of slipcovers.

Have you seen the commercial advertising this special? It is seriously the most repulsive, disgusting commercial I have ever seen. I can't believe the ad agency presented this idea and everyone said "GREAT! Let's air a little kid purposely going to the bathroom on our sofa to sell it!" That association makes me NOT want to buy that sofa. It would be a cute concept to have a BABY accidentally leaking the diaper or spitting up, but to have a child who is old enough to know better using it as the potty....it's just offensive.

amiencc- was it on TV or online? I think a lot of Ikea commercials overseas or online are more subversive- see the one of a kid playing with his mom's vibrator . . .
