Russel Wright: Living With Good Design Exhibition

091807americanmodernwright.jpgSadly, Chicago has not been on the tour schedule for Ohio born Russel Wright's Living With Good Design exhibition. Currently on its way from Palm Springs, CA to Bellevue, WA, the tour will end in St. Paul, MN - if any of our AT:Chicago readers are Minnesota dwellers (we know you're out there!).

Before modern day designers and decorators were part of the mainstream, Russel Wright’s table ware, serving pieces and furniture were found in homes across the U.S. Living with Good Design will trace the development of Wright’s career as the creator of a new American way of living in the mid 20th century...

For color inspiration and general good design appreciation, we are completely in lust with these pitchers from Wright's American Modern collection (above).

I inherited a set (maybe you would say several sets, or a hodge podge) of Russel Wright dishware from my grandparents. I was always in love with the dishes, and when Grandma decided they were too delicate for her to use everyday (she has pretty severe arthritis), she passed them on to me. I also enjoy this pitcher (mine is the salmony-pink) as well as the other organically shaped serving pieces. It is a delight every time we use them.
