I saw "Biedermeier: The Invention of Simplicity" at the Milwaukee Museum of Art 2 weeks ago. It's excellent. It was actually larger than I origianlly thoutght it would be--- it had over 350 obejcts and covered 4 large rooms. The catalog is quite good, too. The museum store even has some reproductive samples of the amazing wallpapers featured in the exhibit (the bold colors and graphic designs are surprisingly modern!). Overall, this exhinbit it worth seeing and worth the short train or drive up to Milwaukee. One more thing... I cannot say enough good thigns abotu this museum. It consistently has interesting exhibits (The Gees Bend Quilts were great viewed here a couple of years ago). Go see the Biedermeire exhibit--- it's more than furniture; it's decorative opbjects, wallpapers, and textiles.
