Birch decor can't beat a true birch tree, but it keeps on trying. The trend pops up among top designers and crafty DIYers alike. Here, some birch decor finds - either made from birchwood or designed around the graphic look of birch - available through Etsy:

Can anyone recommend an affordable resource to purchase birch logs? I have a gas fireplace but would like to display some in a basket next to the fireplace & am not sure where to find some. Thanks so much!!

I can't say any of the above remind me of the 'real' birch that is just outside my window. I think they, whoever they are, should just give up. JMHO

jennanng, if you live in an area with birch trees you may want to contact your city forestry department. They have to prune trees and remove dead or dying ones (or even those that are in the way of a proposed building or power line). You might be able to get some logs from them for free. (Unless, of course, they're mean.)
Also patrick is right about googling "birch logs"... there are tons of results.

My 2008 and 2009 calendars both feature birches -- in December of 2008 and January of 2009.
