As we comb through the Craigslist postings for multiple midwest cities, we are always impressed at the large concentration of "cool" in particular places. So each Friday for the next 4 weeks we will be featuring a specific city in addition to our top 40 Midwest Finds. This Week's Feature City is Detroit, Mi!
For the last 3 weeks in a row it has been all we could do to not hop in the car and make the drive to Detroit. Their Craigslist has been full of fantastic finds at fantastic Midwest prices. Items are well taken care of and are often times rare in nature. This week, there is a lot of high end furniture selling for reduced prices along with some great smaller finds that can be easily found when searching for hot key phrases. Nice work Detroit!

Erin- It changed for different cities honestly. For cities that see a larger influx of mid century pieces, I can use words like retro or mod (as well as specific designer names), but in cities that haven't quite hopped on the Mid Century as treasure bandwagon, words like antique and Grandma and Grandpas (because many times its children selling family pieces).
The staples however are "retro, modern, danish, vintage and heirloom."
In cities where major brand stores might be I search for retail names. For instance, searching Minneapolis for Room and Board always provides good results.
