The super-low-slung bench shown in the top image is via Bo Concept. We like the idea of using it to take of your shoes and step into bed.

This bedroom by Martha Angus shows a cool twist on the classic pair of X-benches at the end of the bed.

I have wine boxes with hinged lids on the end of my bed. I use them to store all my office supplies and manuals for all my technology that I never actually refer back to.

I have a beat-up old bench that my grandfather built at prep school at the foot of my bed. In my college dorm, it was a coffee table. In my first two apartments, it was my entertainment center. Now it's my bed bench. I love it and will never part from it - it is just the best thing on earth.
And it's super-helpful to sit on something solid when you're putting stockings, on, too.

I have a friend who built his own storage bench for the foot of his bed to use as a laundry hamper. When you live in a studio and don't do laundry often, the small sizes offered in home stores end up overflowing with dirty laundry. A storage bench that goes the whole length of the foot of the bed is such a great alternative to the cumbersome hamper in the bathroom or closet.

i love everything about the first bedroom! except the price point. these items, lovely as they are, seem awfully pricey for veneer =/

I have considered a bench or chest at the foot of my bed, but I then remind myself that it will become a dumping ground for piles of clothes, etc. I am already struggling with keeping a chair in my room uncovered!
