A great bench can many hats: it can sit in your hallway and greet you when you get home; it can sit in front of your coffee table holding your magazines, books and even your feet; it can feel equally at home even in a bathroom. With so many possibilities for a slatted bench, we like that we have just as many choices available. Here are two...
The Nelson platform bench with its beautiful lines and made from sturdy maple is an eternal classic. Designed by George Nelson and manufactured by Herman Miller, the Nelson bench is one of those pieces which is instantly recognizable. We were lucky to score one extremely under price at a clearance sale and find that it’s perfect for our hallway.
Perhaps inspired by the Nelson bench is the Haruki Slat Bench, available at Urban Outfitters. Made from solid ash, the Haruki bench is 55" wide and 16" tall and features verticle and horizontal slats. Like the Nelson, the Haruki may be used as a bench or coffee table.
if you don't feel like shelling out a million dollars for an official herman miller product, you can get a knockoff of that bench from many places including http://www.whiteonwhite.com/,

I love Urban Outfitters! I find them to have the most freshest designs out there. And their graphic t-shirts are sooooo cool and original - you gotta wonder where UO gets their design inspiration from.
And don't get me started on their quality, but it can be summed up in one word: HEIRLOOM.

There's also the ikea Molger bench, which I've been obsessed with ever since AT posted on it in a bathroom a couple of days ago:

I agree about UO design, David--there have been a number of furniture pieces I've liked in the last year (esp. once I saw the price). But having ordered a fainting sofa from them, I have to say it's a far cry from heirloom. I love how it looks, it's pretty comfy, but it's also pretty low budget (like, a notch below Ikea quality). But maybe this is just the sofa I ordered and other pieces are more substantial? I hope so!

looks like he's being sarcastic to me haha... derivative mcm designs and I'd guess pretty cheap quality - kinda the opposite of what he's saying - looks like sarcasm...

Ah, sarcasm! Not sure why "the most freshest" didn't tip me off!

Another slat bench option:

And a more unusual style in wood or acrylic:
