”…like at grandmothers home – all her best furniture are always covered in plastic so they don’t get dirty.” Happily, our grandmother didn't do this, but we remember visiting homes that did...and we find the designer's inspiration hilarious.

The inspiration for this model emerged during a lunch in the home of Enrico Fratesi’s Italian grandmother Luisa. "What is fantastic about having lunch at Luisa’s home is the idea that under the flowered table cloth, which is protected by a solid transparent plastic cover, three other layers of wax, foam and felt cloth are hiding – in total five layers protect this mysterious table, which no one has ever seen."
The winning design of a Danish design competetion held last year, the Luisa stools are now in production with Softline. The "inside-out" designs has the soft materials sandwiched inside two layers of transparent acrylic.

Jane - I am in serious love with GAMplusFRATESI's embroidery chair, which I hope to see in person this weekend at the ICFF in NYC. It's something I've decided I have to have, unless it is priced in the stratosphere. Since you posted about their Luisa stools, do you have any idea where the embroidery chair can be found? Much apprciated.
The embroidery chair is beautiful (and can also be seen at gamplusfratesi website linked in the post) but I haven't seen/heard of it being in production. I think it still may be in the prototype stage...
Anyone else have more current news?
Thanks -- and sorry about those typos Janel. I am going to look for them this weekend and see if I can learn more about that chair. It very well may still be in the prototype stage. I check out their website frequently to see if there are any updates about it and there haven't been any.
I love these guys. Yes Janel, I have some news about them, but it's back from March 3.
