Allermuir Chairs and an Alley Table

0413chairtable.jpgWe took a chance combining an old table that our grandmother found in her Berwyn alley with modern aluminum chairs (also donated to us, but this time from a young and hip restaurateur). These Luna chairs are by Allermuir, a manufacturer of contemporary furniture based in the UK.

We think the chairs look great, but they do have a few downfalls. Some guests find the hole in the seat a little disturbing; we just think it's funny. Other times the aluminum can feel terribly cold against bare legs. But the combination of indulgently designed chairs and an antique table with carved wood sides was just too unexpected to pass up. Any thoughts?

I think the vintage table has some charm to it and I would suggest that it be the center of attention. Perhaps replacing the current rug with a sisal ( http://www.naturalarearugs.com/sisalarearugs.php?src=segooad-sisal&engine=adwords!4227&keyword=%2Asisal+rug%2A&match_type= ), straw or other neutral, natural rug would allow the color of the table (a patina-ed green?) to show off a bit more. The chairs seem to work, at least in the photos. If the holes continue to be an issue have you though about pluggin them with something (a wood plug?) painted and distressed to match the sides of the table... it would certainly help tie the chairs and table together...

Just a thought :)

I LOVE the chairs.... I am sure they are out of the price range of the ones I just bought a few months ago for my dining table. Too bad...

I love the table and the chairs are an unexpected touch. Sometimes throwaways teamed with modern pieces really let both eras stand out more. The colorful rug also added to the overall eclectic effect.
