Hippie Armchair from CB2

12-7-07hippiearmchair.jpg

This chair came out a while ago, but it's taken some time for us to warm up to it. We didn't think much of the Hippie Armchair when it first appeared in CB2's catalog, but when we saw the red-orange version in person, we loved it. Despite being very similar to a few other designs (including the Juliana Armchair by Aristeu Pires) it had an unpretentious and slightly awkward attraction of its own. We're bummed now because CB2's website only shows the black armchair as available...no red ones to be found online. The red side chair is on sale, but we don't have the same love for the armless version.

Even though we don't need any more armchairs, we'd been imagining a set of these around a blonde wooden Danish Modern table for a while now. Although the black ones are nice too, we just really loved that red.

I love the CB2 hippie chairs, both colors and both armed and armless- I think they are so sleek and simple. I bought one black armless chair to use as a desk chair with the CB2 trig desk.

These really do look so much better in person-- I ordered two of the armed black ones when they first appeared and was impressed when they arrived. They are incredibly streamlined and tuck easily beneath my small antique dining table.

These are what I am about to order! I'm waiting untill I get back to Chicago this weekend to see them in person. In red. I'm so glad to hear they look good in person too.

Are they comfortable? Has anyone sat in one? Sometimes the crossbar in the back hits at the wrong spot...

The armed ones are comfortable; there is plenty of room to sit back completely because of the seat depth. Can't speak on the armless...
