This month, Elle Decor rounds up ten elegant occasional chairs. The piece defines the occasional chair as "one of the most valuable players in a home, intended primarily for use as "pull-up" seating, any style...qualifies as long as it's lightweight and portable enough to move easily when called into action". From classic to mod, we think the unifying factor of this list is old school glamour - the choices are uniformly chic and a bit retro in their style. Info and link below:

Four that we liked from the Elle Decor list:
Lower end prices (shown above the jump)-
Dyna Chair by Calligaris - shiny, simple and graphic. Priced at $399.
Mr. Impossible by Philippe Starck for Kartell - smoky, mod and simple. Priced at $490.
High end prices (shown below the jump)-
Solid Bamboo Chair by Piecemartin - we always like a touch of chinoiserie, especially in a detail piece like this, mixed with clean-lined large furniture. Priced at $2,110.
LXVI Colonne Chair from Lars Bolander - skinny, classic and fancy - would fit in just about anywhere, including a very modern space, as a contrast. Priced at $2,400.
Check out the full list (put together by designers Campion Platt and Jennifer Post) at Elle Decor online or in print in the October issue.

Funny, because the Stark chair looks more like Calligaris and vice versa.
