I have the three-seater Camden and love it! It was the very first piece of furniture that I had ever ordered (vs. buying off CL or as a floor model) and it was well worth waiting the six weeks for delivery.

I just bought this from Domicile furniture. They have some good priced pieces. It hasn't been delivered yet, and is taking forever, but hopefully it will be worth the wait. They have a decent selection of fabrics/colors as well.

Does everyone realize that, after your bed, your sofa is going to get the most use out of any piece of furniture in your house?

Therefore - price should be just one of many options you consider when buying. What is the frame made out of? What kind of springs does it have? What kind of foam? Is the material durable?

It would be great if AT put out a little tutorial about sofa/chair construction in addition to cheap prices.

I agree with Modfan - Buying upholstered furniture that will last requires an understanding of much more than the pricetag, the shape and the color of the fabric.

Dear all,

i am new here, from ger, i agree with the sofas are not being very inviting.

Can i take this oppertunity to ask you if somebody has this sofa from frigerio? http://www.frigeriosalotti.it/imgs/baker2.html

i bought a sectional in fabric cat. lusso, SUEZ, col.22(grey) with both sides meas. 275cm (2x 177 98x98 corner).

Do you like this style, too? Can anyone tell me about quality, etc.? I am asking because i couldnt take opp. to test this sofa, only the orazio model.

Thank you for your time, i appreciate your answers!

BTW, this site is awesome!

Cheers,
Tim

I purchased the Loring sofa in the view fabric from Room and Board about 5 months ago. Pet hair cleans up like a dream & it's super comfy!

MarlaMischief & JOJGirl - Craigslist - and I'm not being sarcastic. Once you figure out the basics of construction and know what to look for you're much better equipped to know what on Craigslist is a deal, and what isnt. Lots of times a ratty couch is just in need of some new fabric, or even a good cleaning.

i have the corona set from Macy's and love it. I do wish that the foam was a little more firm in the seats, it got soft quickly, but that is one thing i know i can have redone pretty easily.

Their frames are made out of kiln dried wood and the sides of the furniture are solid. None of that flapped material over a big hole in the side of the couch.

Love ours so far, and we'll see how long it goes before i have new foam made for the cushions.

Yes, it would be ideal to buy a quality sofa, but what if you need something to sit on during the 2 years it will take you to save up the money? With Craigslist, you have to get it reupholstered, and that's expensive too. I've gotten a lot of mileage out of "cheap" sofas in my day.

Wow, thanks for posting the link to Domicile. I've never heard of them before, and they have some really nice looking pieces in their collection.

Anyone had any experience with the Jada sofa from JCPenny? It looks just like what i'm looking for, but I'm worried about not being able to try it out beforehand.

I bought my Camden sofa at Crate and Barrel last winter. Sadly, I can't say I'd recommend it. It looks great, but the seat isn't deep enough and it curves down in the front, meaning that it's not very comfortable for sitting OR laying down. If you spend a lot of time on your sofa, I'd recommend you check out something else.

everyone must keep in mind that each sofa is going to be different for everyone because each person has different preferences other than style, whether you like a firm seat, cushioned back, etc. how tall you are is a big factor because that will determine the depth of the sofa that will fit you best. what's comfortable to one person might not be for the next.
