CHI Good Questions: 4 Cushion Sofa?

2008-05-22-4seat.jpgDiana sent us an email: "I am looking for a 4-seater, low back sofa with straight narrow arms and wooden legs. Something similar to the one in the picture. Does anyone know where I could get one?"

One suggestion: Different in style but roughly the length of a 4 cushion sofa - the Cannes 111" Sofa from Crate and Barrel has a higher back and bench seat, but does have the narrow arms and wooden legs that you are after.

Can anyone suggest a sofa for Diana? Please let her know in the comments below.

I have the Clifton sofa from Mitchell Gold Bob Williams and I really like it. It's a bench seat, not 4-cushions, but at 97" it's roomy.

I have the Ryan sofa from Mitchell Gold. Its no longer being sold but the Luc model is very similar. I really love Mitchell Gold's sofas. Very comfy and stylish: http://www.mitchellgold.com/luc_sf_uph.asp

Find a sectional that's sold in pieces such as the Portland at Room & Board: http://www.roomandboard.com/rnb/collection.do?method=get&id=94701501&cat=58

Purchase a Left-Arm Loveseat/Sofa and a Right-Arm Loveseat/Sofa - Voila: A 4 cushion sofa! You also won't have to worry about moving since it comes apart in the center and could always be arranged as an L-shaped sectional with a large square corner table.

(This was commonly done to make longer sofas in the 40's and 50's too)

I think Rowe Furniture's "sullivan" sofa is available in a four seated configuration.

Two cushions or a bench cushion make for cleaner lines as well as less crumbs and debris trapped in your couch.

I'm quite the opposite: I like the length of a 7-foot couch, but the 1 cushion. But in compromise, I have the 86-inch & 2 cushions & 3 legs R&B Eugene sofa in fabric Drift and color Oyster.

hans111 has a very good suggestion. I think going with the Clifton sofa from Mitchell Gold is a great option. Having a bench seat is going to streamline the sofa a ton. A 4 over 4 cushion is just a little bit too busy.

Yes, I know this is in another country, but look at the styles here:

At the bottom, there is one in leather, by Viceroy. Looks somewhat like the one in the your picture. Can't see any legs though. And they don't have it in fabric anyway:

The other one with four cushions on the base is Italian:

"Family Life" and "Family Lounge" are the two biggies. Oh, and "Wall" appears to be long too. Very long.

I got a kick out of their "Extra Wall"...for when you aren't sure which way you want to face...or for playing that sit-down...when-the-music-stops game.

The Hutton sofa from Room and Board is similar in length, but instead of 4 cushions, there are 2 big ones.
