These two pieces from Bleu Nature might have rustic backs, but the white arms and upholstered seats are completely contemporary.
From the "nice story" on the Bleu Nature website: "Every year, a team from Bleu Nature combs the beaches for pieces of driftwood. Large or small, straight or twisted—each piece deserves special attention. Once brought back safely to our home base, the driftwood is sorted and stored. They need no further processing because the water has frozen them in time forever."
