Koller Seating by Joseph Hoffmann

092908hoffmanntrio.jpgRevisiting an old classic today, the velvet-covered Koller pieces by Joseph Hoffmann show off a rich and bold aesthetic balanced with soft, curved edges and subtle detailing. Designed in 1911 for the living room of a "Mr. Koller," Hoffmann supposedly used a similar model for furnishing the Stoclet in Brussels as well. Link to purchasing/pricing info below:

Wow, now that is gorgeous.

Awfully expensive for me as well, although I suppose it could have been worse : I've seen uglier and more expensive sofas.

Still only for my optical enjoyment, alas....

yes they were. I bought a sample off of one shop for a couple of hundred dollars -- with shipping.

actually, though, I loved the chair, and still do. it just never fit with anything else i was doing.
