We're on the lookout for a sizable, attractive laundry hamper, and this bamboo flip top one from Linens 'n Things ($39.99) caught our attention. The height (at 28 inches) seems right and the flip top sounds better than the detachable top we have now. We're wondering, though, why all hampers are brown, white, or wicker. Know of something else out there for dirty laundry? Please tell us! We really need to update our hamper style, and wouldn't mind seeing some color and non-wicker pieces.

Well why not look into a trash can... pair it with a canvas laundry bag and you can have the look you want and a functional solution...

thanks, julian. interesting concept...though i'm not sure a trash can would be big enough for me!
AT: SF posted a hamper yesterday on their site. it's not the non-brown i was looking for, but is worth a look. funny we were both on hamper patrol yesterday...

they have a bunch of options.
I use a tall aged metal garden planter from the Conran shop. Obviously no lid, but I've always liked to throw in my clothes from across the room.
Here is a fun wood one:

I have been looking for a nice hamper forever and LOVE this one, but Linens 'n Things no longer carries it. Any suggestions where I can find it?? Thank you!
