Anyone know of more affordable options that look like the Mona or Ruby?

It's cheaper to buy unfinished, and get it painted at an auto paint place. Just as nice, usually a better price.

You can get wood pieces painted at an auto paint place? What do you ask them to do?

These are way fun! (I didn't check the prices; that would have spoiled the fun.)

I'm w/ Palmetto on this one - A find at the unfinished furniture store or local fleamarket and a few cans of Krylon would do the trick perfectly well.

"You can get wood pieces painted at an auto paint place? What do you ask them to do?"

You point at a color and say "Paint it that color"

I love the idea of Maine Cottage and the colors they offer are wonderful but cannot get over how ridiculous the prices are for what is undoubtedly mid-range furniture that's just average in construction and quality.

really love the color choices but find most of the furniture uninspiring - dull lines, oversized pulls, unnecessary ornaments. wish they'd stuck to true shaker forms. guess it's still diy for this look.

I was about to post the same thing, Palmetto-- these styles are very similar to items available on the cheap at unfinished wood places like Gelco Woodcraft. It's not a big deal to do a bit of sanding and painting. I'm always amazed at the crazy prices Maine Cottage charges for really simple designs.

I've been coming to AT for about four years and I remember when it wasn't about blatant marketing for manufacturers.

This post is a commercial. You all know that don't you?
