Modular Shelving by Michel Doyer

Dutch designer Michel Doyer is the creator of DeKast, a modular shelving system composed of upholstered panels and open shelves. The buyer chooses which fabrics to use for the panels, and components start at 450 euros a piece. Although pricey, the system opens up lots of possibilities for DIY ideas...

We'd take the same idea and run with it by upholstering a panel and attaching it to standard IKEA shelving or just painting for a similar effect, although it would be tough to achieve the clean lined details of Doyer's system. The metal edging and interior hinges are nice touches. For more information, click here.

This is so beautiful. Delivers whimsy and order at the same time.
