
Dutch designer Michel Doyer is the creator of DeKast, a modular shelving system composed of upholstered panels and open shelves. The buyer chooses which fabrics to use for the panels, and components start at 450 euros a piece. Although pricey, the system opens up lots of possibilities for DIY ideas...




We'd take the same idea and run with it by upholstering a panel and attaching it to standard IKEA shelving or just painting for a similar effect, although it would be tough to achieve the clean lined details of Doyer's system.
