One Simple Idea: Stepladder Bookshelf
Stylemonger

ladder071409.jpgWe just saw a post on Stylemonger about a simple item being used in posh surroundings and how it can make a big design impact. This simple step ladder...

...was pressed into service next to a larger bookshelf as both a practical item and a sweetly decorative spot for overflow books. According to the post, it was sponged with the same paint that was used on the walls to help it to blend in just a bit.

What do you think? Thumbs up for mixing things up with the little ladder or just too out of place in an elegant library?

That seems to be where I put books I pulled out and am too lazy to put away. Not my personal style, but I like how the color pulls it together, so I'll like it in your house.

I'm not crazy about the ladder as a so-called elegant solution, because to me it doesn't really look elegant. I also have to say if those books are balanced on the steps too long their spines are going to sag.

Just make sure you don't have cats, or kids. They would knock it over in a heartbeat.

I wouldn't call it elegant either, but it would be great in home with a cozy/country feel to it.
