Sumatra Sideboard at Structube

Structube is sort of like a West Elm of Canada. A step above IKEA, with so-so-quality, so-so-price, you-assemble furnishings. One of their new offerings, the Sumatra sideboard, is made for dining rooms where swinging doors and pull-out drawers may consume too much space...

Two sliding doors can be positioned at the center or the ends of the unit, providing half open and half concealed storage. Finished in a darkened ash veneer, the Sumatra sideboard measures 63" long, 18" deep and sells for $749 at Structube. Structube does not ship outside of Canada.

My own experience with veneers on Structube furniture was NOT happy. I'm a big believer in solid wood.

I agree, especially for the giveaways and contests. My heart sinks every time I see a contest on AT and know I cannot enter because I'm international

I bought a couch at Structube last year and I'm still very happy about it. I heard bad stories but I also know people who've liked what they bought. Guess you have to pick what you buy...like anywhere else

Like WestElm - they don't ship to Canada. As for a Canadian AT, YES PLEASE. Does Structube even have stores outside of Ontario and Quebec?

Hey Regina, write about some of the awesome vintage stores in Montreal! Or some of the fantastic (and totally overpriced) designer furniture available in the design district! Or the amazing antique market! Or some of the online resources! Have you found any of the warehouse stores for fabric? I've always heard about them but never found them. Have you seen the crazy lamp store? Montreal has a lot more to offer then Structube and EQ3...

A few months ago I was in Montreal and I found a store with not one but TWO tulip tables. For $300 a piece! AH!

Apprently, West Elm is starting a Toronto location, listed as opening "October 2008" on their website and mentioned in this month's Canadian House and Home.
