Name: Sara
Location: Burlington, Ontario
Size & Type: 625 sq. ft. one bedroom rental
Favorite resource: "My favourite resource is a huge recycle centre here in town. Hardly anyone knows about it, so that means MORE vintage goods for MEaahahahahahahahcough.Seriously though, just about anything that I can picture in my mind (aside from an Eames, let's get real), I'll eventually find there."
Pitch: I call this masterpiece Sara's Cheesy Retro. My small is cool because I've managed to make it look relatively airy and minimalist depite the astounding amount of crap I have everywhere.

I know I'm sounding like a broken record, but really, good photo's of more than one room go a loong way.

The pitch is the best.

Sara, I could not vote you an insta-finalist for design, but you win for high hilarity. Your place is adorable and so are you.

Definitely the best pitch so far. Is there a prize for that?

You go, 905er! Great to see some taste and independent spirit in the 'burbs.

I like your vases and your yellow chair, but you need a bigger rug in the seating area and more art or something on the walls.
view robinm's profile
you have no entryway in your floor plan. your stuck in there forever!?! oh no!
nice place. :D

If there were a Smallest Coolest Goofball award, you would totally win.
Love your pitch, and think your place has a ton of potential. It's a great start, and I agree with robinm that you could use more stuff on the walls & a bigger rug.
But your personality shines through in your color choices and accessories (is that a white owl on your small table?) and I love that. Kudos for getting your stuff at the recycling center - it's good for you & good for the planet.
Brava! Well done.

I love your mustard chair, too!

Maybe AT should add some non-prize awards just for the fun of it. This entry definitely wins for Best Pitch.

Sara, you need to move to Chicago so we can hang out.

Bravo! Nicely written. Love your crap!

I don't see all the "crap" so you must be doing something right. The living room needs a larger piece to tie it all together, but overall nice job.

you are super funny and i cant wait to see your place after you find some more treasures at the dump! im a picker too and have found some amaaaaazing things....
now, take that big floor pillow off the couch and put it on the floor where it belongs! it'll add one more space to sit and it wont dwarf your couch like it's doing now...
and yeah, little rugs just look like bathmats. leave them at the side of the tub or use it next to your bed!

i'm going to come steal your coffee table.
right now.

I have the same couch, and it seriously is the World's Smallest Couch; however, then I got the matching chair, which might as well be doll house furniture.

Love the pitch, wish the pictures had shown more. But I like what I can see.
I really love that little table/globe/lamp situation in the living room.

I think that they put the legs on the wrong side of the coffee table.

best scc pitch ever!

watch out, buzzybee, i might come steal the coffee table from you...
sara, what is that black thing standing behind your sink--some kind of dish drying rack?? it is intriguing.
view damova's profile
the black thing is actually a navy-ish drying rack from Ikea. i had the tomato colored one and people always commented on it. theyre pretty cool...

Someone from my neck of the woods! I will be checking out that recycling centre.
Your amount of crap looks pretty small to me. I have to agree with the comments about bathmats and floor pillows, but I also agree that your mustard chair is great. Not to mention that phallic vignette in the third photo!

What up guys! Thanks for the positive comments.
The lamp someone commented on: I made that myself by cutting out bits from dollar store plastic placemats.
The "bath mat" (ahahahah) is also the spawn of my/the devil's idle hands. It looks much less bathmatty in person. Why did I decide to make a rug instead of buy one like a normal person? It is a mystery. Also I am cheap.
As for the dish rack..... it is a dish rack.
Yeehaw!

I..want..that..sofa! Please...where did you get it??
view kuroneko's profile
Giggle of the day!! I got a case of canuckles from you, Sara! Merci!
And your place is just swell, especially since you "dig" to furnish your digs! Tres cool!
view 2009sunshine's profile
Are you serious, kuroneko? I mean um OF COURSE YOU WANT MY SOFA BECAUSE I AM AMAZING.
The vendor of the sofa begins with an I and ends in a Kea. You know, He Who Must Not Be Named On Furniture Design Sites.

Great pitch. I love the little white owl, and the fat green whatever-it-is next to the phallic vase. A bigger rug and smaller cushions would be cool. I would have liked your 3rd photo to show more of your home though, I bet it's great!

I'm a sucker for a globe! Especially in that lovely shade of turquoise, it just somehow works.

looks good but i think some kind of window treatment would really go a long way in the living room.
