#22 - Luis's Guest House Home

Name: Luis
Location: New Orleans, LA
Size & Type: 360 sq. ft. 1-bedroom

Favorite resource: Design Within Reach

Pitch: The ergonomic layout of my studio has unique elements and fixtures that enhance the nature of its small scale. Every space is utilized to the maximum without clutter. It provides quiet privacy with all the comforts of a bigger place.

Pitch Cont'd: It doubles as a studio or a guest house without a glitch. It is unique because even though it had six feet of water during Katrina, the structure survived enabling me to restore it. It is especially unique because it is where I live now since my main house was destroyed in the flood.

Your favorite element: The staircase.

I love it - except for one thing...where do you do your kitchening? The absence doesn't make me not love it, I'm just curious. Do you think you'll keep living small once your "real" house is restored?

z.

the simple white bedframe is the min bed from DWR. it used to be called the alu bed.

i have one. it looks a lot better than that one though. i'm not too crazy about the bedspread.

Cute place. That staircase is kinda hot. Looks like a nice outside area for entertaining, which is nice for us small home dwellers.

I saw first hand Columbus Day weekend what six feet of flood water can do to a place. I'm glad you are doing well and your place looks great. Especially glad to see a happy dog in the picture ... I saw too many who were suffering. My friends in New Orleans are just getting their new kitchen installed now, months and months later. It's a long road back.

It's so great to see someone from New Orleans! We have so many small, cool spaces that deserve showcasing.

This small space rocks! Especially after Katrina. Good luck with the kitchen renovations. I hope you guys win.
