1. Who was your favorite entry and why?
East #11 - Victor & Soeun's Romantic Loft. Romantic's not the first word that comes to mind, but it's a heck of a strong design statement, executed with discipline. And, apparently, with an eye on the bottom line. A fun floorplan and thoughtful artistic details seal the deal.
What's your next improvement?
Art. I've made one piece since I moved in (collage, framed in the small hallway) and I want to get back into it - working as a designer it's nice to be creative for the sake of creativity once in a while. I'm using the blank canvasses now as a compositional element, which I think works pretty well, but I do intend to paint and commission my artist friends as well. On the other hand, I'm the type that's inspired by a blank sheet of paper, so maybe some will remain unadorned.
WOW! That's one stunning space!
I have to stop looking at these entries . . . they're making me feel so unhip in comparison.

I remember breezing past this one in the original entries because it looked dark. I almost didn't recognize it in the slideshow pics. Great space! I love the cohesiveness. Where did you get the typographic piece next to the bed. I'm coveting!

I really like that brick wall. The windows and their treatments and the lighting are great.
Apartment Therapy - the link to Nathan's original entry doesn't actually go to his entry.

Wow. Josh, I completely agree. It all fits together so well now that we see more than three pictures. It's such a guy's space, but I really like it.

definitely like it, but photos are a bit dark! slanted window is a bit trippy :)

So I tend to hate black, but this place makes me change my mind. The plumesque paint and the black work so well and don't come off as too dark or depressing. I love it all!

Beautiful! I like your kitchen, and I want a shag rug. :)

I agree, Nathan. And I would describe your place as romantic. Very. So warm, inviting, and sensuous. The bathroom, kitchen, dining chairs, the living room, the dark sultry colors. I could fall in love here.

This is a good one; I liked it the first time out and it is better now. A bit dark, but very sleek and masculine. Nicely done!

Very nicely done-sophisticated and timeless in terms of colors and materials.

This is obviously a man's apartment. But it is very sleek and all that chocolate makes it quite warm.

Really nice. Though dark, it's still inviting, rich, and sleek. Absolutly love it, even if it does have some stereotypical "urban loft" characteristics. I also like the grey in the bedroom, what's the name of it?

Thank you all kindly for the comments! This has been a lot of fun. The piece next to the bed is my own; it's acrylic. Lots of shag around here, you're right, but I don't regret it, trendy as they may be - I thought cowhide at first, but the shag is softer underfoot, and much less expensive. And the contrast! I could go on. The grey in the bedroom is Sherwin Williams 'Flexible Grey'. Half the reason I picked it was the name, hee hee.

Super-envious of the glass-brick wall in the bathroom allowing natural light in. That's very rare for a loft space. My loft is extremely bright, except for the bathroom - this is inspiring me to find some way to remedy that.
The design is great too. Nice restraint. Love the Eames chair and the fact that you didn't buy everything else from Herman Miller.

Nathan, your apartment is beautiful. It makes me want to watch a thunderstorm and drink tea while sitting on one of the couches. I know someone else asked you to marry them, so I won't propose again, but if you are ever looking for a nice Irish girl...LOL! Good luck in the contest :)

This is pretty sensational, and I'm glad you embraced "the dark side" of the palette, because it works so beautifully. It just seems like it could be anything from a studious place to a den of iniquity without having skipping a beat, or having to necessarily say which.

gorgeous. i love how the white MALM is modified to completely suit the feel of the apartment.

nice. I agree that being able to see the personal affects in the home was extremely helpful. It feels much more like a warm (and sexy) lived in space, rather than just a gorgeous apartment with gorgeous furniture.
Could me in as another typography fan, and a fellow domo lover.

This entry has grown on me... Quibble: I wish there was more of a transition from the cream(?) hallway to the plum darkness of the living room-- it seems quite harsh. But that could be the lighting? lotsa hard edges in that living room, thank goodness for the shag!

Apparently a lot has been happening since I last came over. You're place looks more and more amazing on each visit. As for the typographic piece next to the bed, what does the "a" stand for? As always, your impecible taste and personal style shine through.
