There is a pic in taken of the living room alcove with the cat sitting on the window sill. In that pic, is that a light fixture on the wall? I was confused by its form.

I guess I'm not the first person to log in almost solely for the purpose of complimenting the awesome cat. Fat tabbies are the best cats ever. Their owners are clearly people of taste and discernment.

the odd form on the wall is a light... is is an art piece made by our friend.

by the way our chunky kitty NEVER wants to take pictures, and for some reason he felt inspired to pose for apartment therapy.

Just looking at that TV makes my neck hurt. How awkward and weird.

Love the paint color in the living room, as well as the shelves above the window, for some reason. And the TV looks comfortable to watch. The angle and the distance from the couch look like they balance out the height that its mounted at.

As for the TV the main issue was that it was really the only place in our minds it could go and not look awkward. The room is very symmetrical and putting the TV in one of the corners would throw it off in our opinion.

Maybe its due to our bad posture but it really not awkward, with the TV slanted down and the couch far back enough its within perfect eye-shot actually.

The apartment actually came with a mirror up there, we devised a box that was anchored into the wall that now holds the TV.

Perfectly respectable but not terribly inspired.

Nice touches throughout.

that tv placement would make me feel like i'm in the front row at the movies. but i still really like this space. (and LOVE your fat cat.)

I absolutely love the kitchen and the classy serene bedroom. The mix of objects in the entrance doesn't really work for me though. In the living room the placement of the TV and the style of ceiling lights don't seem to work either.

I love your choice of paint colors. I especially like the blue in the kitchen...do you remember the color name?

I kind of like the television where it is, at least in the photo. I'm not as convinced as others that it would be that hard to watch at that height.

I like it! The Occasional Cat fits in so well--cats are timeless, making them vintage AND modern.

Thanks for all the comments! We are only 3.5 months in the making, so hopefully our place will only get better, and our cat will stay on his diet.

Glidden was the brand, Aspen Leaf was the paint color of the kitchen.

The bed stand also has a matching dresser that couldn't fit in the shot, it is an original Kent Coffey set found for $30!

And the odd fixture on the wall in shot #5 is a light made by a friend, it is made of ceramic and dyed cast rubber.

I tried posting yesterday but got an error. I agree with the sentiments of this place, but not entirely with the execution. It seems really sparse in some places - but not in a minimal way, in a random way. Also you've got a flat screen television and a working fireplace: pick one! The ginormous flat screen looks like its about to topple down and kill someone, not to mention the fact that it is a huge and looming analogy for television in general. Dont get me wrong - I like TV as much as most people - its just not the overlord of my living room.

Cool place. Love all the colors... BUT, i'm surprised that with all the great color, you don't have just a bit more of it in the bedroom. Color me confused about that. :0)
