What's your favorite resource for your home?

Thrift stores.

4-2-slideshowbutton.jpg

What is your one favorite element in your small, cool home?

It has a "walk-in closet" that is large enough to fit my full size bed and a dresser, so although it's technically a studio, I have a separate room!

I like the dark colors too - makes the space feel much larger and more comfortable.

I think the color and the layout are great! A little bit too much frames here and there seems really busy though.

I don't know. I LOVE the vignettes and compositions, but a lot of the walls appear bare and the colors make the space a bit somber. Great design eye though.

Ok, I'm getting tired of seeing only ONE or TWO room shots and then 2 or 3 vignettes. How are we supposed to get a feel for the entire space? That aside, I do like this apartment, from what I can see. Nice use of jewel tones.

Colour choices are good, but the work desk vignette looks really odd.

I think the brown/blue thing is too overdone. Although I do love the DR color (the faux arrangement made me gasp a little). This is good entry, but I think it's too matchy for my taste, maybe introducing other colors would help.

I could be considered an "MCM drone" as I have seen elsewhere on the site but I think that your apartment is beautifully done. It looks warm and inviting and cohesive.

That's funny about the "walk-in closet." I wonder if originally that little space was supposed to be a bedroom (because how many closets are designed with windows?), then in more modern times it was reclassified as a walk-in closet and the apartment considered a studio instead of a one-bedroom. And now you've basically turned the studio back into a one-bedroom... interesting how society's perception of space changes over time.

I like what you've done with the space. I do wish we could see the kitchen, and I'm not sold on the desk setup (that mirror on the wall bothers me--how can you work sitting in front of a mirror?). The colors are dark, but I think you get enough natural light to help offset it.

Great intense colours! I love this place - it looks stylish but REAL. I'm somehow more impressed when i see a place that is well done by a 'non-design person' than i am by a place that's amazing and by a designer.

Another closet-sleeper! Kudos to you for for inventing space.
Excellent bones, but the furnishings are kind of random... a little too random. Good color palette.
A light-colored, clean-lined sofa would do wonders for the living room... the mushy brown sofa is kind of dowdy looking.
I want to see kitchens! Is everybody embarrassed of their kitchens & bathrooms, or what??

I love the window above the bed. It looks like it provides just the right amound of natural light and ventilation for the space. I would love to lay in the bed with the window open in the evening and read. Great entry!

I really love this space. I think it was utilized very well. The bed looks comfy and inviting. I live in a San Francisco "studio" apt and I too have my bed in my closet which does have a window and 10 foot ceilings, so when I saw you had your bed in the walk-in closet I thought...genius. It really does free up the use of the livingroom. Well done.
I do agree that it would be nice to have a picture of the kitchen and bathroom as well.

Very nice. The chair in front of your desk: do you or anyone else know anything about it? I have two and have seen them in Martha Stewart Living and have wondered who made them, etc . . .

I'm not sure if it was the "desk" or if it was a vanity/dressing table, but the chair was in the slide show.

Gourdsaregorgeous:

The chair in front of the vanity/desk I purchased from the thrift store ($8), sanded, re-painted and re-upholstered. Then all I needed was some turquoise paint, staple gun, and a scrap of leopard velvet fabric!

Thanks :)

love the color in the room and the shot of the table. Hate the color combo in the living area. Mostly the tan color. And it just feels too matchy in there. Like if you come across something teal you buy it just because it will match.

black_sheep,

Oh.. you mean, like ... coordinating pieces that have personal meaning to me?

And fortunately, for your viewing pleasure, my local thrift store doesn't stock much in teal.

Thanks for the input!
