Small Space Gallery: Dining at the Counter in Style

One of the quickest things to be "lost" when living in a small space is the dining room. A table and chairs for eating take up lots of space and for a small household, having a "formal" spot for eating just isn't practical. What does work? Pulling...

... up a stool and enjoying your meals at the counter, just as many of our Small Cool entrants do!

I understand when bar stools and eat-at counters are necessary. It's a great way to save space. But if there's room for a table, and it's mere feet away, why the need for the stools in the kitchen? Strikes me as something that would get in the way.

The convenience of having a counter top is nice because it doesn't need to be "decorated fancy" like most people set their tables... a table is nice in addition because it can multitask as a workspace yet can still be cleared off if guests come over... why keep a huge table clear of stuff when there is a perfectly simple counter and stool?

The bar area is also great for guests to sit at while the host(ess) is finishing up in the kitchen. They can enjoy a cool mojito or glass of wine and some appies and chat.

Great ideas for small spaces. Little studios can be so adorable when done right... when done wrong? Disaster.
