We're at the end of Week Five! We hope you took this week to try out some healthy habits at home, like cooking regularly and taking some time off from media to relax. If it's been hard for you to readjust to new practices, use the Sunday schedule on page 167 of the Cure book as a guide this weekend. We love following a similar schedule on Sundays: shopping for groceries, doing a quick clean-up throughout the apartment, cooking Sunday dinner, going out for a walk (it's actually nice outside now here in Chicago), and going to bed with a book. Good links and more pics below.

Weekend Checklist (Deep Treatment):
• Finish cleaning office area and related closets.
• Finish decluttering files.
• Tackle the cord octopus.
• Look into wireless technology (optional).
• Vacuum, dust, and mop.
• Choose one soft or hard thing to add or subtract.
• Try a one-day media fast.
• Buy fresh flowers.
• If you haven't eaten most meals at home, do so this weekend.
• Wrap up repairs this weekend.

Weekend Checklist (One-Room Workout):
• Order from your shopping list.
• Try paint samples in the room.
• Finalize paint choices.

Next Week we work on the bathroom and we look into light therapy. Since February was bathroom month on AT, we've already seen a lot of well-organized bathrooms, but if you've still got work to do you'll be focusing on decluttering and upgrading a few things. One-room workout folks are looking into lighting arrangements. Although often overlooked, lighting has as much impact on a room as furnishings or color.

Other than picking up my new chair last night, this week has been too crazy for any cure progress. I was out of town for work during the beginning of the week and have been swamped with work projects since then.
It's ironic that the week we're supposed to be focusing on our offices (my room that was in most need of help - and the focus of my one room remedy), I haven't been able to get anything done. Hopefully, I can find some time to tackle things weekend -- Our household paper work is in a frightening state of disarray (and *panic* our taxes aren't done...).
On a happy note, our landlord popped in on Wednesday to inspect some work that had been done on our roof and he raved about my decorating skillz. It was nice not having to make a mad dash to clean things up and compliments are always good.
I have managed to cook at home every night I've been home. Wednesday was a scrumptious London Broil and some yummy Mahi Mahi last night. Hubby is definitely liking that part of the cure....and our bank account appreciates us not dining out all the time :)

Good for you moni-ka for cooking every night you were home. My hubby does all of the cooking for us and he hasn't had a chance to go grocery shopping this week so we were eating some creative things and sadly ate two the tonights although I hear that tonight is pork chop night!
Last weekend I was out of town and I feel like I have been playing catch up since. I did clean out the buffet and organize under the upstairs bathroom sink. The spare bedroom (which is one of my main focuses) remains untouch. It is the main dumping grounds for everything other room that is getting cleaned from the cure. Hopefully this Sunday I will be able to start at least on of the closet and shred mountains of papers.

The weather is going to be really...mmmm.... "special" up here in Michigan this weekend- we have flooding and tornado watches today- they are calling for snow and rain mix for the weekend. Sounds like a perfect weekend to work inside!
I am going to finish my boys room this weekend. I actually don't have alot left, just finish the secretary/dresser thing and attach it to the wall, hem his curtains, and start to finish the artwork and accessories. Then I want/need to finish my upstairs studio. We'll see how far I get!

man, the entryway does look super white in the pictures doesn't it? My husband and I have been talking about painting for months, but since I live in DC and he lives in Pensacola, we haven't had a lot of success picking colors and getting started! I do promise to get plants into the space the next time I'm down there, and if we ever get the place painted, I'll definitely post pictures...

I spent the entire day yesterday working on a house for "Rebuilding together" which used to be called Christmas in April. This is the third year that I volunteer and it is such a reality check.
Reality this year was a 60 year old grandmother raising 3 grandchildren and one greatgrandchild in a two bedroom house that needed major work. We redid the bathroom and kitchen plumbing, scraped and painted inside and outside, installed new flooring (carpet in the living room, new tiles in the kitchen and bathroom). We restored beautiful old real wood paneling with Old English.
None of us could bear to place the old mattresses back in the house so we pitched all in and bought new bedding for everyone, including sheets and bed frames (they used bricks, before).
If you ever ear me whining because I cannot afford this or that, do please scold me!
