The Spring Cure: Week Zero

3-3-08springcure1.jpg

3-3-08springcure0.jpgWe're starting off the Spring Cure with a "soft launch." Today marks the beginning of Week Zero, giving you some time to get the book, settle into your home, and get ready.
This is the second time we've done the Cure in Chicago, and we've already got a great Flickr pool going. Conversations have started, photos have been uploaded, and our Cure members are ready to go. if you want to start a picture set on Flickr and don't have an account yet, get over there and sign up. Click below to see how the Cure works:

Who: Anyone who wants to join can participate in the Flickr Group and follow the Cure posts on AT.

What: We use the AT Book as a guide, focusing on a different part of the process (cleaning, choosing colors, lighting, etc) each week. The Cure has two levels, one of which requires next to no financial investment (but lots of elbow grease) and you can choose to focus on one room or the whole home at once.

When: Week One officially starts on Monday, 3.10.08. The Cure lasts 8 weeks, and at the end you'll host a get-together for friends or family in your new space.

Where: Choose the city nearest you to determine which group you'll be participating in. Cure posts will pop up on the main AT page 2-3 times a week. In between those posts, there's constant activity in the Flickr Group.

Why: To make our homes healthier, calmer, more organized, and more beautiful places to live. It can be tough, but you'll have lots of people helping you along the way.

How: People upload their progress to the Flickr group, and I pull photos from that pool to post to AT:Chicago. When you upload photos, you can also ask your Flickr friends for suggestions on how to fix problem rooms.

Count me in. I still have pieces of my outbox from the Fall Cure sitting around. How disgusting is that? :(

I'm really excited for my first Cure! I think having public accountability will really help me reach some of my goals.

Count me in. I've missed the last..oh gosh...I think it's been four. I've been reading AT for like, the last three years or so...

I've recently relocated to Houston, TX so I don't even know which geographical location I need to be in - I'm in the middle of everything!!!!!!

Evviva! I'm tackling the main bathroom, which, while functional, has bothered me for a long time. I'm trying to leave the smallest ecological footprint possible, which means keeping and reusing all I can. I will need help from the hivemind.

the big d, I'm in Houston too and was also confused on where to be. The LA group has Austin and the Southwest listed in its intro so I am assuming that is our area!

I screwed up my login, so lhedden should really be lhedden21. It's fun to already have comments on my flickr photos - thanks everyone! I'll try to start commenting on others tonight or later this week.

I wandered around my apartment taking "before" pictures today (they'll likely be posted to Flickr on Wednesday) -- this Cure, I'm working on things that either didn't get finished in the Fall Cure, or turned out not to be as functional as I had hoped after the Fall Cure.

My After pictures from the Fall Cure (the link is probably still in my name...) provide a bit of a jumping off point until I get the real Before pics posted. When I post the new pics, I'll explain what isn't working for me.

Glad to see both familiar names and new ones!

Count me in for this spring cure. After living in my condo for a year and a half, I would like to reclaim the closets in the spare bedroom.

Should probably formally say that I'm in. My plan this time is to follow the Deep Treatment to the letter and see where that gets me. Plus a few side projects that I know will squeeze in.

I'm in too! I kept missing the kickoffs of the previous Cures. With a wedding coming up in June I know there will be lots of family and friends around. Good to know that my house will be ready for them. Plus the spring is such a good time to clear out the clutter and put it in a yard sale!

Is it too late to participate??? I had started to do the same by myself, but it will be much easier with homeworks and people supporting me!!
