Heymomo's Media Center Success Story from the Chicago Fall Cure 2008

We all have an idea of how we would like our homes to be, how we can improve them and what we need to do to get there, but it isn't always easy to do on our own. We run a group Cure each Spring and Fall to gain support from each other and work through the tasks one by one, with enough camaraderie and good energy to get us from start to finish in 8 short weeks.

This is week zero of the Cure, meaning that it is time to sign up, get your book (or just grab it off the shelf if it is already part of your library) and get ready to go.

Interested? Sign up right here and welcome to the Spring Cure 2009!

I think I'm signed up, but the webpage got stuck on "please wait while we process your registration". Or whatever the message was. Nevertheless, I'm in!

I serendipitously found a copy at a local used book shop. It's as if the universe wants me, a cure virgin, to do the cure. Yikes, here goes nothing!

Signed up, is it weird that I'm nervous? I do have a tendancy to not finish what I started...

*sigh* the book isn't available in the library where i live - there are no copies at any local bookstores and Amazon Canada says it's backordered 3 weeks. Amazon USA won't ship here...

maybe next year!

Seems I'm stuck at the submissions page too. Is there a way to check to see if we're registered? Just ordered the book on-line and am soooo ready to get started. Spring has so sprung!

Heaven help me but I'm in even if I have to lag behind everyone. We move into our huge new place this weekend and I have no measurements of the place though I do have some diagrams from the builders.

Is there a place where people post their progress and plans?.

The page can take a minute to load after you click to submit the form. If you received an email from us, you're definitely on the list. If not, then we may not have received your submission. It doesn't hurt to submit more than once.

To help me further troubleshoot the problem (I haven't been able to reproduce it), feel free to email me -- scott@apartmenttherapy.com with the following:
* Your browser (IE/Firefox/etc.) & operating system (Windows XP/OS X/etc)
* Did you first submit an incomplete form and go back to fix it? Or did you send it all in one go?
* Did you sign up for one or more of the mailing lists?

Thanks.

to rouquinne:

Try Powellsbooks.com. They can ship anywhere and can find most any book. I got mine from them. They may even have a used copy available.

to twitteringbirdie:

The book is small and seriously worth it. I would recommend spending the $15 or so it costs. :)

twitteringbirdie, you don't need to buy the book. you can borrow it or not read it at all. worksheets, etc are posted each week. the online cure was invented to celebrate the book when it was first published and continues by popular demand.

you won't get as much out of this without the book.

I just updated the form. Looks like there was a bug that affected Internet Explorer. Should be fixed now. Thanks to everyone who provided feedback.

Mine froze yesterday, so i tried again and still froze. :-/

I just bought a house with my b.f. and we're moving in this month. My Cure is going to be somewhat different than previous ones, but I'm still excited. Hoping decorate and plan as the cure goes on so once it's over, the house is a home.

I can't wait. I have 2 major projects started this past weekend that just might take weeks to finish- plus I have a studio that hasn't been cleaned in 2 years (let alone cured)

I signed up a minute ago and it went right through by the way!

I bought the book weeks ago and was waiting until the right time to get started. Last night I took a bath and decided to read the first chapter. And then today I find out that The Cure is up. Weird! I am think I have to do it now.

Having major problems with the spring cure page. I can't see what I'm typing in the type window with an older version of Firefox. Safari just crashes.

bfootnovellista, I feel the same way! I just decided to add it as another homepage tab that way I'll see it every time I open my browser. Hopefully someone will work on the RSS though...

@Txag06 - I emailed Scott and he said that unfortunately, they probably won't institute an RSS here. He gave me some geeky site to "scrap" one together myself...but I have no idea what to do with it. I'm an author, not a a technogeek, Jim!

I'm at it again - Did the Fall Cure 08, but sort of drifted off halfways. Cross my fingers for more determination this time. Looking forward to some Spring Curing and Cleaning!

I'm getting started this weekend by chipping away at a few things: getting rid of a chair that I should have gotten rid of a long time ago, ordering blinds, clearing out some paperwork that's overdue. Starting a little on the kitchen too, since there's never enough time during kitchen work to ever finish it.

In the mean time I'm hanging out in Seattle!

I am in for my third cure. This time I am focusing on one room (the spare bedroom that keeps piling up with stuff) and maybe depending on my husband's willingness to help, I can get going on some other rooms. I also got started a little this weekend with giving our bathroom a long over-due deep clean. Hopefully I will stay on track!

I use Safari too and though last week the page froze when I tried to sign up, this time, the registration went through right away. So...Mac/Safari folks--it's worth trying again. Thanks for fixing the bug.

What's with no comments from Boston?
I'm really Providence, but we're Boston for this.
Some kinds of things can disrupt your home and slow down progress, like teenagers (I 'm not talking about the ones you drive to sports & stuff) losing your job. breaking up. you know what I mean. Thinking through what is realistic to accomplish under certain...circumstances... & maybe will attempt the bathroom storage shelves.

Hiya! I am curing for third time... but I am moving this time and need to focus on decluttering my existing apartment and redecorating my next place. It's smaller, and has a tiny bedroom with sloped ceilings and no hanging storage. I can't wait to send photos and get some feedback from everyone... Yay!
