Perfect way to deal with white walls. A good answer for not being allowed to paint, and a sharp foil to the white that makes the white more than a landlord-mandated afterthought.

That colour in that example, though, would not work against most wall colours, and would not work if it didn't pick up the rug, art, etc.

Beige drapes, on the other hand, need to be some rich fabric to make any kind of positive impact. Generally they just kill the light.

I don't usually like drapes very much but when you gotta have them, go bold or go home, IMO.

It works here because the entire room is so well planned and the use of color is superb. The scale of the wall art on the white walls (the oval shape of the art itself brings great yin-yang balance) is dramatic enough to counterbalance the wall of lime curtains. The rug and also furnishings have neutral gray tones with just the right amount of color punches to create unity throughout the room. I love this photo and I could definitely live here without growing tired of it.

I've been considering replacing the Navy velvet draperies in my bedroom with something more vibrant like a royal blue taffeta - This room is definitely an inspiration.

Considering all the other color in the room, the bright green drapes really don't stand out too much. They blend in and look perfect.

for me the crazy element in this room is the clashing hue of green in the carpet, not the drapes.

I wish I could just jump in and just buy them! But when I start curtain shopping, the indecisiveness seeps in... blue or yellow... hmmm, stripes, or solid.... and then in comes WHITE! So I just put the color into accessories like a chicken... they are less expensive and then I can change them out! I've always admired the beautiful bright colors of India... Magenta and Gold curtains would be fun. See, indecisive... white, safe, white.

I couldn't see the drapes becouse of the (wonderful) orange picture.

That is the exact colour I've been planning and looking for for my living room. That's exactly how I would want it to look.

Maybe I am not understanding the question, but people do accent walls in bright green (and orange, and so on...) all the time. How are bright green floor to ceiling drapes any different?

If there is a problem with that room, its not the color of the drapes, it's the ADHD approach to color.

What curtains? I can't stop staring at those bizarre fuschia chairs with orange pillows.

The photo reminds me of sherbet....

Love the idea of very colorful drapes, especially for renters like me that can't paint.
