The Panton chair seems unstable to me.

I find the Panton very beautiful but uncomfortable. I'm voting for Jacobsen's Series 7 instead. But, I'm not sure what you mean by 'Retro Modern' -- doesn't that imply chairs that have been recently designed in the spirit of Modernism? Which woudn't be either of these?

for comfort I love my Eames plywood dcw, and dcm. I do love Wegner's esthetic as well, but my vote goes for Eames.

The Panton chair is lovely but its really a bit too much if more than 4 people are sitting. I like the Ligne Roset Sala chair (in white).

Panton Chair FTW! There's actually a second hand store here in Columbus that has had Child size panton chairs for months, and I just wish I could use them!

Tulip chair. A pure classic.

Eames Eiffel Molded Plastic Armchair and Side Chair

It really depends on the style that one favors.
"Retro modern" encompasses so many styles -- the Panton is pure 70's retro (I know it came out in '67 but it epitomized the modern look for the next decade) and the Wegner is characteristic of Danish mid-century modern -- a very different style...

What I like about the Panton is its sculptural quality and the way it works so well when mixed with a table from a different style, as in the example in the picture above (more so than the Wegner).

Panton all the way. We just got a steal on 6 white ones through Craigs List and they look amazing with our very solid, very geometric wooden table. I find them really comfy with nice give.

Eames Plywood or the Saarinen tulip chair!

I think the comparison is unfair -- the Panton are appropriate for a grand dining space and the Wegner are better for a casual or in-kitchen dining space. If I had to choose for myself, I would chose the Wegner because they are more livable. Even better would be to have space for both.

I'm in love with the Tulip Chair, so that's my initial response... though I agree with klmg that it depends on the table and the setting.

I'm surprised to see the Eames Plywood chair listed. It's too low to be a dining chair, unless you have a lower than standard dining table... I also find that you can only sit in two positions - either tilted all the way back in the chair which isn't practical for eating, or perched on the very edge of the seat. Don't get me wrong, it's a fine chair, but it wasn't designed for dining.

Ah, got it. Eames DCW... the dining version. Sorry.

Donghia Anziano chair-I think it's from the 80's. The Cantiliever chair (I'm probably going to get flammed for this) just looks like a big piece of cheapo-plastic to me.
