We've needed to get our new home office under control for several weeks, and this past weekend we finally accomplished what seemed like a miracle: organization. That nagging "this is going to take forever" feeling, the impulse to focus elsewhere when this job was truly #1 on the list of to-do's...we bet you know what we're talking about. This spring, what's on top of your spring cleaning and/or organizing list?

My big project this year had been clearing the junk out of my spare bedroom - it's amazing how the stuff piles up!
I successfully sold a bed that I wasn't using as well on Craigslist to a lady who bought it for her son this weekend - made me happy to see it going someplace where it would be used and enjoyed.

I know EXACTLY what you mean. I did the exact same thing this past weekend. I had been putting the whole cleaning process on hold for a while, but I couldn't take it anymore. I took advantage of the fact my husband had to work on Saturday and cleaned the ENTIRE house. It felt great and I had almost forgotten how good it feels to live in a clean, organized home

Rotate cushions (couch, chairs, mattress) because it's the easiest to do.

I voted office organization.... and then I was reminded about my spare bedroom which has been my 'outbox.' I guess April/May is a slow month for selling on Craiglist. Things went pretty fast in Feb/March. :-(

we are working on the backyard. we've already got rid of the rocks-n-dirt mixture and now we're ready for the tiller and then, to plant the beautiful grass. we're hoping to get a hammock later this summer and learn to enjoy the backyard life.

I still have around 100 pounds of boxes left over from moving to recycle.

Great to read how busy everyone is with their projects. I'm going to concentrate on my den where my office/reading space is. I also need to purge one more time, I think....Specially books.

I need to get rid of the small forest's worth of paper that has accumulated over the years in the file cabinet and closets--bills, statements, even college papers and textbooks (I've been out of college for 5yrs!)
I started shredding this past weekend and filled 2 huge garbage bags--and that was only junk mail. I am dreading getting into the boxes in the closets but they are taking up too much valuable closet space so they need to GO!

Office organization is always a priority in March and April due to taxes. Kimg924, I usually avoid selling items on eBay or Craigslist in April/May for the same reason. Tax rebate checks are the wild card this year, but I'm imagining most haven't arrived to their destinations as of yet.

i just made curtains for my closet, since i took the doors off to get better access to my crap. they came out great!!
shoe cubby thing was an inch too long so now i'm stuck with it. it can be used elsewhere, i'm sure.
i bought new hangers to get motivated to organize the clothes. didn't work.
now i'm off to vacuum and do dishes. at least when that's done it's DONE. my bedroom closet is this perpetual project and no matter what i do, it's still a sucky layout and i still can't find the most efficient way of dealing with it.

Office organization is ALMOST done; this is a full year after moving into a new apt. Woohoo! And then it's off to cleaning out the closets by donating and rotating winter/fall things into an out-of-season space and installing value-adding (cross fingers!) elfa-type closet systems in all our closets.

I steam cleaned the carpets. What a difference!

I have so much craft stuff. I really need to find a better way to organize my craft closets and the plain sad truth is I really need to stop yarn whoring until I get some projects finished up. My stash is just getting out of hand. ~blush~

Cassis, I suggest you post your moving boxes on Craigslist and have someone else who needs them get to use them. I've done this several times and you get a happy feeling from the grateful people getting to use something they need.
