Funny, that is the ONLY episode I have seen of this show. Not on purpose though, it was kinda funny.

We bought a dining table online, and it ended up being the completely wrong color stain and clashed horribly with our chairs and floors. Luckily it was cheap and we repurposed it as a large desk/work table in another room.

It's not really a good purchase gone bad, but I bought a vintage 1/100 scale model of a Boeing 747 off eBay. It cost more to ship than it did to buy... and it wasn't cheap. When I finally got it I marveled at its coolness, then suddenly wondered, "where exactly do I put a 4ft long model airliner?" It's too fragile to go on the floor, too large to sit on a table and too bulky to hang from the ceiling. Now it sits on a coffee table in a corner of my study with the rest of the things I have no idea what to do with.

Blandwagon, hang it from the ceiling. It would make an awesome chandelier.

My regretful purchase was a Heywood Wakefield Cadence buffet. It took me 3 weeks to refinish and by the time I was done it looked horrible in the space. I ended up selling it. Practically gave it away.

I bought a couch from Restoration Hardware that I had not sat on (they didn't carry it in their stores). The overall proportions for the room were fine, but the seat deck was so low and the back so deep that you needed help getting off of it. Add to that 100% down fill and you had a bi-yatch to fluff. Big mistake! Seat height is rarely listed on furniture sold online and it is so very important to the comfort of the piece. I held onto the couch for 2 years before I had to say enough is enough. It was actually watching my mom have to roll to her knees to get off the couch that did it. One can't have furniture that requires a crane for guests to use!!

I love this show...my husband and I have watched every episode...mostly online since Monday night usually isn't free...but it's a great show...especially if you are a geek and can follow along with realistic aspect of the humor...

That show is awesome! Thankfully no majorly huge purchases that were no so good. Just smalll ones.

One lesson I learned early on was not to buy a slipcover just because it's in the color I want. The fabric might be all wrong. I bought a slipcover for my hand-me-down off-white couch (it was free!) and the fabric was so slippery that it wouldn't stay tucked in. I bought big straight pins to insert between the back and arm, and to hold it to the cushion. This worked in the short term, but then the pins started to come loose and... well, that wasn't very pleasant. I still have the same couch, but a much smarter slipcover.

i bought a tea pot because it was good looking but it pours terribly so tea goes all over. it irks me in a way that other virgos would understand.
