Not everyone gathers for family dinners at the dining table. Let's face it...many people eat in front of the TV. If we're going to have dinner on the couch, we might as well do it in style. Click below for 10 options, from tray tables to adjustable coffee tables to flip-top furniture...

I like that last one from BoConcept and the second one from Dwell. I'm definitely a couch eater and these are a nice solution if you don't want to drag out the tv tray. Too bad they aren't in my price range.

Whatever the very first one is, I adore. I can't imagine ever having a dining room in my life, and the way that one comes up to you, revealing storage (replicated on the other side?) is fantastic. Also the Hexa which says, join me in my way of dining, friends.
Though I am firmly with TrueTex in saying 'ohnoes,' there is never going to be $1,800 in my life for a piece of furniture I can readily imagine. Were I so lucky, at least $1,400 would go to those nearest me who need. But! Who cares, and bless brilliant and beautiful design! That is a huge part as to why I am here.

Knifemouth - this may work for you since it's much less expensive:

This one is very close to the Dwell but available here in the U.S.

If you like the boconcept table, make sure to look at it in a store. The motion of the tray is undamped - even as an adult, I'd be slightly worried about my fingers. And it doesn't seem very impressive, engineering-wise.

gotta love TV dinners

Are there any nice modern alternatives to my hideous folding TV tables? I eat in front of the TV 70% of the time and standing 25%, sitting at my table the rest. I need it for two people. Maybe something like a swing-in side table perhaps..
Any ideas??...

Love the BoConcept idea, too, but ParticleBored is right--most every piece of furniture at Bo looks great in the catalog or online, but once you get in the story there is always some flaw with either construction or service; last time I was in the D.C.-area one, the flaw was an 8-10 week wait for something.

These are beautiful tables, though out of my price range.
As an alternative, I use a giant ironing board instead. It's fully adjustable, has a pretty cover, handles heat, and while sturdy, is also lightweight. It's currently serving as an adjustable desk and of course, an ironing board :)

Another great option is to buy a C-table that you can slide the bottom of under the couch to pull the top towards you as if seated at an actual table.
I love this one from Crate and Barrel:

This one is cheaper though (from CB2):

And this one looks like it could be amazingly versatile:

I'm so tempted to buy one!

my glass-topped square parsons table (from room and board) is perfect for me. let's face it, if you're already sitting on the couch, you can hold a plate in your lap, right!?

The table from Le Souk is alright...but the floor cushions, so cute! can't find them where i'm at, does anyone have an reasonably priced online suggestions? i had one from urban outfitters but the quality left much to be desired.
