Double-Duty End Tables

1-14-07endtables.jpg

We love double-duty products, since we're a little bit obsessed with maximizing small spaces. End tables can be really versatile pieces, doubling as storage or serving multiple functions. A chest (like this one shown in an image from Living Etc) makes a great end table. Click below for other ideas...

The Stow Leather Storage Ottoman ($169) from Crate and Barrel acts as an end table, ottoman, storage spot, and serving tray (when you flip the lid).

The Kiki Table from Chiasso ($48) works as an end table, nightstand, or tray. Remove the top to serve drinks, or pair a few of them together to create a multipurpose coffee table.

Karim Rashid's Magino Stool ($330) is an end table, stool, and magazine rack all in one. The clear acrylic takes up minimal visual space in a small apartment.

The stacked surfaces of the Ozomi end table ($299) can accommodate a table lamp, magazines, and other odds and ends. By changing the position of the parts, this table can be assembled in different configurations.

The ceramic Lotus Stool ($269 at Viva Terra) works in a living room, garden, or bathroom. Use as a stool, end table, or plant stand.

Store the Bekvam Step Stool ($14.99 at IKEA) next to a sofa, and pull it out when you need to reach a high spot. It's made of solid beech wood that can be painted any color you choose.

The Victoria Hagan Perfect Pieces Bethany Trunk would fit in with a wide range of decors, and it's pretty affordable at $69.

I really like that bent plywood end table. It can stand on end and function as an end table or lengthwise it's more of a small coffee table. I don't know the name of them but they can be found at Room and Board.

You probably didn't want to overly IKEA-ize the list, but the Benjamin stool is awesome. It's a seat! It's an end table! With a cushion beneath, it's a cozy cave for cats!

Off topic, but I really like that chair. Anyone know where I can find it ? (Besides harrods, which is where LivingEtc says its from. Couldn't find it on Harrods' website, and besides, I'm in the US and the shipping...)

art, it's the Offi Mag Table and we love it, too! (We have one at home.) We've blogged it so much that we thought we'd leave it off this list, but it's a great piece.

We're currently searching for end tables (with storage possibilities, ideally) to go next to our sofa, so it's as if you had read my mind.

Here's another one:

But I do love this one and may just have to get it (in white) even though it offers no storage:

That gorgeous Moroccan Table from Garnet Hill has been discontinued. Does anyone know of a comparable item? I'm looking for nightstands for a cramped space, preferably in white, and preferably not more than 12" or so in width.
