Looks like it's shaping up to be an industrial chic day on AT:Chicago. We've been looking at kitchen sets, and lately we're dreaming of a counter with stools to help create a little more workspace in our kitchen. We were excited to see Janel's picks from Costco, and we went searching for a few more counter/stool combos.

Top: Emeco's stools are made from 80 percent recycled aluminum, and they're available at many modern retailers for about $300 - $800 each. If money were no object, we'd outfit a kitchen counter with 4 of these in a second. For the counter, the stainless steel work table Janel blogged earlier would work. Image via All Modern Baby.

The Marais Stool is just right for the French cafe look. They're $280 each at Design Within Reach and right now the gunmetal gray is on sale for $220.

We really like the look Maxwell got in his home with the Lyon Industrial Stool (only $65) and IKEA butcher block counter.

Emily and Craig picked up their counter stools from Aldi (the grocery store) and painted them white. High and low is always cool.

This IKEA kitchen gave us lots of ideas, like using a countertop table with an island of storage underneath.

My fav bar/coffee stool are the ones at Intelligensia in Silver Lake, CA. They have no back part and are square and bright blue (matches the tile perfectly). Anyone know where those come from (and the metal water container they have?)

My favorite stools were purchased at Crate and Barrel. They have two sizes and the seats swivel. They are pictured here in my studio. http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/la/fall-colors-2007-west/11-dmstudios-private-sanctuary-034204

dmstudio, not only do I like those stools very much, I enjoyed seeing your other pics. I am now poking around online looking for Hawaiian quilts. I've never been there, and was completely unaware that there were quilts specific to Hawaii before I saw the photo of your bed.

Greer,

Also, if you are interested, AT San Francisco posted a full house tour of my apartment here http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/sf/house-tours/sf-house-tour-daniels-collection-of-travel-and-art-042050. There is another example of a Hawaiian quilt in the picture of my guest room.
Good luck finding a Hawaiian quilt you love. I think they are fantastic.
