apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Sydney Outdoor Bar from West Elm

An outdoor bar seems like the ultimate in entertaining, although pretty impractical in Chicago and definitely not doable in our apartment. That hasn't kept us from fantasizing about having one in our other life where we're constantly throwing soirees on the patio. In a cold climate, it would make sense to get one that you can bring inside and use year-round...

The Sydney Bar from West Elm ($749) looks like a good option with double counter space, stemware storage, and a wine rack. The teak and metal design could also work indoors. We could see it in on a concrete patio or in a modern tiki rec room.

this is small enough to use in a good sized apartment. i wish it were collapsible - that would be the ultimate! we had a portable bar in our front room when I was a small kid in the '70s. And didn't the Forman's have on in their living room on "That '70s Show?"

Collapsible bar... genious. Great for people like me that like to entertain, but our apartment is a little too small to be in "entertainment mode" all the time.

This is the first patio bar I've seen that I actually like. Too bad my deck is way too small for it!

Love it...I wish that it wasn't so expensive.
