Designed in Hawaii and made from a single piece of ecologically forested acacia, these fantastic square plates make us tire of our standard circular ones.
Square plates, though, always make us feel like they are best suited for particular eaters who don't like any of their food touching...like this plate's meal has a real order to it.

I made the switch last year when I picked up two sets of square plates at CB2 last year - the dinner plate is a white square and I got these funky glass plates to use as bread/salad/dessert plates.
Those wooden plates are cute, but they seem high-maintenance.

We have had large wooden plates like these for years. My parents got a bunch when stationed over seas with the military. Then she has given some to all of us kids. We have always used them for parties...they are like a tray and are great for buffets and especially for eating off your lap.
They are great for that use but I am not sure about everyday use.
