Inspiration: Magnolia Trees and Michael Aram

050409magnolia1.jpgMagnolia trees are in full bloom right now, but the perfect sights and smells of the magnolia blooms don't last nearly as long as we'd like! Now especially, it seems that Chicago has more magnolias than we ever realized in past years. Inspiring neighborhoods and designers alike, modern-organic tabletop craftsman Michael Aram pays homage to the magnolia with these lovely aluminum plates:

I think that's a picture of a tulip tree. Magnolias have thick green leaves. They both smell amazing, though.

Some magnolias have fat waxy leaves with sporadic blooms (Southern, sweet bay). This one is a flowering magnolia that blooms all at once in spring before the leaves come in.
