After posting on mix-n-match dishes yesterday, we discovered that a lot of you like this look. For those who are fans, we searched for other mix-n-match ideas and came across this DIY project from the Purl Bee: a patchwork tabletop...
Although it might be a little too scattered when paired with mismatched dishes, we think this is a great way to bring some color to your table if you have an all-white or monochromatic set. We love the idea of using fabric scraps to dress up a simple runner or napkins. Even if you're not a sewer, you could pull off the same look by using a set of mismatched placemats or napkins. If hand applique is not in your bag of beginner skills, you could certainly zigzag the square down with invisible thread and get the same effect. And in 1/3 the time. I have no idea why anyone would invest hand applique into a project like this anyway.
Set your zigzag at 2.0mm length and 1mm width. Enjoy!
