apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Repurposed Lighting by Ted Harris at Scout

lighting081409.jpg One of Apartment Therapy's favorite shops, Scout, is featuring the work of Ted Harris in a month long event. It begins today, with an opening reception at 6pm. Chicago designer Ted Harris is known for repurposing items in new and beautiful ways, such as these globe pendants...

...from Michelle Kaufmann's Smart Home, filled with a collection of used bulbs.

In Lisa Cregan's NYT article about the show, Harris says "Since I was a kid, I’ve always seen beauty in what’s been cast off". Through his work, the rest of us can too.

The collection at Scout contains 50 examples of Harris' lighting in all shapes and sizes. For more info: Scout

A local wood person can usually make a table like this, I do know of someone in the Bay Area.

For those more interested in the table (as I was), it appears it is Terry KarPowicz:

Table. Sigh. That table.

Are there craftsmen in DFW who could make something like this?
