The home was built by its occupant, a man in his 40's who has never built anything before. Even though the house is crafted from scraps of another man's junk, it has been made into a treasure. Just goes to show that no matter how small the resources at hand, care can always be given to create a thing of beauty. See the rest of the house at Choochuey's blog, Phi Phi Design Workshop. The use of materials pictured here isn't at all uncommon in 3rd World countries - What's remarkable about this one is how well crafted it appears to be.

Fascinating! Makes you think.

The house is built really close to the electrical wires. I guess there are really slack building codes in areas like this. If someone has the mind set to do the best with whatever they have....this guy seemed to pull it off. I'm impressed.

I used to live about that far from the power lines in my alley in Chicago....
Cool idea and nice house, though I'd be concerned about toxic residue, etc on materials used, since that is, as I gather it, rather lax in Thailand in regards to material safety.
