The Gallery: Dead Rapper Paintings by Hope Perkins

20071001ryan4.jpg

S'up, color? To kick off this month's color theme, we did a bit of hue-specific googling and found Hot Pink Pistol, the website of Austin-based artist, Hope Perkins.

We're not sure what made her think to combine a dead rapper and ice cream treats into the same painting but we think it's hysterical that that she did.

20071001ryan3.jpgThe (oil?) paintings, which Perkins describes as "a cross between Frida Kahlo and Giuseppe Arcimboldo," are a little confusing, a tad tasteless, but they're nothing short of vivid.

Sadly, "Biggie, Biggie, Biggie" (our favorite of the bunch) has been sold.

But "Biggie goes to Dairy Queen" "Tupac goes to Dairy Queen" are still available and can haunt your walls for only a few benjamins each.
